Need Bands for September 27th Show

Hey Asheville.

We're known as The Soundvine Collective- five bands from Orlando, Florida- that all have unique sounds, but similar ethos. We're planning a five day tour of the southeast ourselves, and want to get as much help as we can. We are only touring with three of our bands (possibly four), and are looking to have an opening slot for a larger local band in each city. We'll be sliding into Asheville on September 27, and wanted to know if there are any bands that are interested in headlining/helping us secure a show. While I won't get into details just yet, we have a somewhat unique way of performing, in which there is no set-up/break-down in-between our bands, just constant music and happenings.... We're also working on securing either in-store or radio performances for each town, to further promote the show.

I have a box of almost 90 CDs that I am trying to rid myself of. I doubt that any of the local record dumps would take most of them off my hands, so here's the deal:

Anyone can have the box for 75 bucks. Or, I could post all or parts of what's in there and you all can bid on them.

Or, someone could tell me which record shop in the greater Asheville/Sylva/Waynesville area wouldn't freak out if I dropped in with a box of CDs and said, "how much for the little girls?"

Seriously. I mean, Prince's Batman soundtrack is worth at least 20 bucks, right?

(most of these discs look ok, some look worn and there are a couple that *might* not play on picky players. YMMV, post for more detail)

Thanks to vote by mail. If it's available in NC I'd highly recommend it, though you guys don't have to deal with all the bullshit propositions so it's not as nerve-wracking voting at the polling places.

Also, if Obama doesn't win NC I will hold you all responsible. If he does win I will buy everyone who wants one a beer when I am there over Xmas/New Years.

We're playing this really cool festival here in Asheville. You should check it out. It is called Musique Automatique. There's a ton of bands playing. It should be fun! Check it out!

Musique Automatique is back. Last summer's Musique Automatique showcased a successful eleven-night, forty-plus-band local rock residency at the New French Bar. Each night featured a collage of different local music genres. This year's highly anticipated Musique Automatique will be a multiple venue, four day music showcase from July 9th through the 12th.

We all know that Asheville has an incredible music scene. The more that we as a production company became involved locally, the more we realized that although our community has many wonderful and very talented bands of all genres, there was no exclusive outlet for all of the amazing rock 'n roll being created around our town. There are creeks, but we are creating a river. This became our quest, our pursuit of local rock 'n roll as a reality. We really believe that Western North Carolina has the potential to turn the sleepy head of America towards our extremely talented and flourishing local rock scene, and Musique Automatique is at the forefront of this awakening.

This year's Musique Automatique will promote Asheville's community of business and art. Our showcase will bring local musicians and artists together to celebrate their passions. Throughout the four days, Musique Automatique will include thirty four hand-picked local bands as well as performance/visual artists at two different venues per night, with transportation provided by LaZoom on the 11th and 12th of July, from downtown to West Asheville.

   Tickets will go on sale Saturday, June 28th at midnight. They will be available at the Orange Peel, Stella Blue, the Grey Eagle, and the Westville Pub, as well as on the web at www.theorangepeel.net . Ticket prices will be $13 in advance, $15 at the door, and $40 in advance for all four nights.
